About Me
Becoming a UX designer has been a lot of hard work, but worth it in the end; I get to do things I love to do every day. To me, being a UX designer is a mix of sociology and art in a digital form, allowing for endless possibilities. Creating Usable products is me sailing my craft, adapting the product to appeal to a large audience is rewording.
I first became interested in becoming a UX designer when I met my dear friend Alan Underwoods, now a 25-year award-winning UX designer in my early twenties, who looked at a geeky artist and was like, did you know? I have been hooked ever since.
A large part of my passion for me is that I bring other things I enjoy into my job, like my love for photography. In my free time, I do photoshoots for up-and-coming rappers, shooting shows, and publicity shots. I love exploring a new city, hiking it, and finding
its hidden charms, translating the traits I see into my art, clothing, and digital work.
It is enjoyable to translate the visual aspect into a physical form; creating a design prototype is challenging and rewarding when you finally get it to work. Helping me in this pursuit is my love for reading and learning about new things. I read The Rhino book on JavaScript not because I want to be someone who codes but because I find it essential to understand how it all works. When I wanted to learn how to use grids, I read Josef Muller-Brackmann; ‘Grid Systems in Graphic Design.’ Learning as I have gone to become a better designer besides natural talent.
Design Books that inspier me
Kobayashi, Shigebobu: ‘A Book of Colors.’
Kobayashi, Shigebobu: ‘ Color Image Scale.’
Krug, Steve: ‘Don't Make Me Think.’
Norman, Don: ‘The Design of Everyday Things.’
Muller-Brackmann, Josef: ‘Grid Systems in Graphic Design.’
Sierra, Kathy; ‘Badass Making users awesome.’
The Future
My goal is a degree in sociology and technology, allowing me to hone my craft even more. I'm three classes from a university transfer. Making the combination of self-taught and formal education a marketable skill, I know how to learn formally and informally—making me an excellent UX designer.
